Monograph Strategies During & After the Pandemic in Canada
Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET
CRKN is pleased to announce a member-driven interactive webinar, “Monograph Strategies During & After the Pandemic in Canada,” exploring the current state of monograph collecting practices in academic libraries. This webinar is offered by staff at McGill University, the University of British Columbia, the University of Calgary, and Western University, facilitated by CRKN.
As we approach the end of the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, libraries are continuing to re-evaluate and adapt to changing monographic acquisitions and management strategies. This webinar will offer an opportunity to connect with colleagues across Canada to brainstorm how to move past reactive approaches into proactive and strategically sound decision making, while acknowledging that libraries must continue to be dynamic and responsive to the current environment.
Participants will be invited to share their experiences over the past year and their plans for the future, as well as their thoughts on print and e-book acquisitions, the movement of e-textbooks into the library space, the marginalization of smaller and non-English monograph publishers, and how COVID temporary measures may impact future collections strategies.
In advance of the webinar, participants are invited to contribute their pandemic monographic strategies in our co-created Google Sheet (anonymous options are available). Join us to build relationships with colleagues and plan for the future of the monographs landscape in Canada!
